• Macquarie acquires Farnborough Airport

    Macquarie Infrastructure and Real Assets (“MIRA”), via Macquarie European Infrastructure Fund 6, has acquired Farnborough Airport from a consortium of private investors. The business aviation airport handles more than 30,000 air traffic movements each year.

    Farnborough Airport was the world’s first dedicated business aviation airport to receive carbon neutral status from Airports Council International, and its facilities and services have seen it named Europe’s best Fixed-Based Operator (“FBO”) facility since 2005. Farnborough Airport is the birthplace of aviation in the UK. When opened in 1908, Farnborough Airport was the UK’s first airfield and the site of the country’s first powered flight. Internationally, the airport is known for being the site of the Farnborough International Airshow.
    MIRA is a leading global investor in airport infrastructure and FBO facilities, with approximately 72 million passengers using MIRA-managed airports each year. MIRA-managed funds are invested in 12 commercial airports across Europe and Australia, and 68 FBO facilities across the United States. Macquarie is one of the largest investors in the UK, having invested and arranged more than £40 billion in infrastructure projects since 2005.

  • Embraer Praetor 500 receives EASA and FAA approval

    Embraer announced that the company’s new Praetor 500 midsize business jet was granted its Type Certificate by EASA and by the FAA The Praetor 500 received regulatory approval from Brazil’s Civil Aviation Authority in August, less than a year after having been announced in October 2018 at NBAA-BACE.

    The Praetor 500 surpassed its certification goals achieving an intercontinental range of 3,340 nautical miles (6,186 km—NBAA IFR Reserves with four passengers), a high-speed cruise of 466 KTAS, a full-fuel payload of 1,600 lb (726 kg), a takeoff distance of only 4,222 ft (1,287 m) and an unfactored landing distance of 2,086 ft (636 m). For a 1,000-nautical-mile mission, the take-off distance is a mere 2,842 ft (867 m). The Praetor 500 is the only jet in its class with Ka-band internet connectivity and the only midsize jet with full fly-by-wire. The Praetor 500 has the capacity to seat up to nine passengers with the optional two-place divan. Of the six fully reclining seats, four may be berthed into two beds. The Praetor 500 features the newest edition of the acclaimed Collins Aerospace Pro Line Fusion flight deck.

  • Swiss company SGS acquires majority stake in Argus International

    Denver based Argus is a provider of data-driven inspection, audit, safety and compliance solutions to the global aviation market. Founded in 1995 and privately owned, Argus has a network of over 100 employees and expert consultants and generated revenues of approximately USD 10 million last year.

  • People: Christophe Degoumois, new Bombardier VP of International Business Aircraft Sales

    Bombardier last week announced the appointment of Christophe Degoumois as Vice President of Sales, International, for Bombardier Business Aircraft, overseeing business jet sales in all regions outside the Americas.

    Christophe Degoumois Mr. Degoumois joined Bombardier in 2004 as a Sales Director, occupying roles of increasing responsibility over the last 15 years, including Vice President of Sales in China and the Asia-Pacific. In his most recent mandate, he was Vice President of Sales for Europe, Russia and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). His expanded role will include the above regions as well as China, the Asia-Pacific, the Middle East and Africa.
    Mr. Degoumois began his career in business jet sales in 1998, working in aircraft management and air charter sales in Zurich and Geneva.
